Garrett Moyer's journey into the world of sports and fitness franchises began when a franchise headhunter steered him in the direction of D1. Moyer recently opened the third D1 Training location in the area, marking his first foray into the world of athletic training centers. Situated within Charlotte's Prosperity shopping center, Moyer's leap into franchising stems from a desire for change and a passion for sports that has long been ingrained in his life.
D1 already awarded franchise rights to two individuals in the Charlotte area: Jordan Gay, a former NFL kicker and punter who owns a D1 location in Mooresville, and Stephanie Gleason, who, along with her husband Brian Gleason, opened a D1 site in Indian Land, which launched in 2019.
Moyer has also secured rights to open a second store in Gastonia. D1's expansion in North Carolina and nationally remains ongoing, with a new ownership group poised to open a training center in Ballantyne within the next year.
As a former Division III college tennis player and avid pickleball enthusiast at the age of 51, Moyer is determined to enhance his own training habits. He embraces the idea of helping young athletes maximize their potential through an easily accessible training center. For adults, D1 Training provides a space to get in shape or fine-tune their skills and endurance for events like triathlons.
